When men think about their health, they probably don't worry about things like osteoporosis, breast cancer or an eating disorder. Those are women's problems, right?
That's only partially true. While women do get these conditions more often, men are also vulnerable.
The numbers
Osteoporosis. Two million men in the United States have osteoporosis and another 12&nbsp;million are at risk for the disease, according to the <a href="[BASEDOMAIN]/healthinfo/bouncelink.aspx?shortcut=osteoporos" target="_blank">Bone Health &amp; Osteoporosis Foundation</a>.
Breast cancer. Breast cancer in men is rare, accounting for less than 1% of all breast cancers. But men are more likely than women to be diagnosed with an advanced-stage breast cancer. If it's not treated in time, the disease can be deadly for both sexes, according to the <a href="[BASEDOMAIN]/healthinfo/bouncelink.aspx?shortcut=cancersoc" target="_blank">American Cancer Society</a>.
Eating disorders. Millions of men and boys in the United States have an eating disorder, according to the <a href="[BASEDOMAIN]/healthinfo/bouncelink.aspx?shortcut=edap" target="_blank">National Eating Disorders Association</a>.
What men can do 
One of the most important things a man can do to avoid serious problems from osteoporosis, breast cancer or an eating disorder is to learn about the diseases and his risk. As with many serious illnesses, these health problems are most treatable when they're found early.
